18 Million

18 Million is an estimate of the acreage of wild forests that are cut, burned or otherwise lost each year. I made multiple, colorful identical concrete casts of a branch, and installed them in woodlands and fields, to investigate the environmental impact of replacing wild forest with identical monocultural tree farms.

This work was created and photographed during a Fellowship I was awarded for a month residency at the Vermont Studio Center, in November 2019.
